Located in the city of Westminster in London, England, Harley Street has been well known for the large number of medical organisations, doctors, surgeons and hospitals on or around it. After receiving the land in an inheritance from his wife, Henrietta Cavendish Hollis, Edward Harley began developing the network of streets between Marylebone Road and Oxford Street in 1715. Harley, the 2nd Earl of Oxford, originally developed the area for residential purposes and named the streets after family members. The Howard de Walden Estate currently owns and manages the 92 acres of property. The area was originally developed in the Georgian architectural style and catered to wealthy and famous homeowners such as landscape painter J. M. W. Turner and Prime Minister William Ewart Gladstone.

The Harley Street quarter is frequently referred to as Medical London and boasts the largest concentration of medical expertise in the world. In the middle 1800s medical professionals began locating their practices in the area. They were attracted by the rich customers who lived in the district as well as the proximity to rail stations. In 1860 there were 20 doctors practicing in the Harley Street region. Today its hospitals, medical practices, clinics and paramedical organisations employ over 3,000 professionals. The Medical Society of London in Chandos Street opened there in 1873 and in 1912 the Royal Society of Medicine in Wimpole Street opened its doors. These two institutions augmented the status of the area tremendously. The area has always attracted the best plastic surgeons, psychiatrists, dentists and other medical practitioners in England. Notably, Sir Henry Thompson, surgeon and genius, worked as a genitor-urinary specialist on Harley Street. He treated Napoleon III of France and King Leopold I of Belgium. In recognition of his expertise he was appointed surgeon-extraordinaire to the King. Dr. Edward Bach, an outstanding homeopathic physician, bacteriologist and immunologist also worked there. With the abundance of highly skilled dental and medical practitioners in the area, many reputable private hospitals have established themselves in the Harley Street district. Some of these include The Harley Street Clinic, The Wellington Hospital, The Princess Grace Hospital, The London Clinic, The King Edward VII Hospital for Officers, The Portland Hospital for Women and Children, and Devonshire Hospital. The London Cancer Group is affiliated with the Harley Street Clinic and is world renowned as one of the most advanced cancer treatment centres in the world.

Each year, cultural enthusiasts desiring genre ranging from contemporary music and dance to theater and comedy acts can find their heart’s desire at the Glastonbury Festival. The birth of this festival stems from an arts and culture series held in the mid 1920s. The current festival was reborn in 1970 when Michael Eavis was inspired to revive this old tradition following his attendance at a similar festival in Bath headlined by Led Zepplin.

Through the years, Glastonbury Festival has grown in size, attendance and media attention. Now under the direction of Glastonbury Festival Ltd., the festival site is in the Worthy Farm area of southwestern England’s County Somerset. Taking place the last weekend of June, it is now a 4-day event with an estimated 150,000 fans being accommodated in tents and recreational vehicles. While this is basically a BOYT (bring your own tent) happening, a limited number of campsites devoted to families and the mobility-challenged are available.

The main concert area is composed of 2 stages boasts a superior sound system and security detail for the safety of performers, festival staff and guests. There is a special comedy tent/stage as well. In addition to strategically located hygiene facilities over 400 food stalls are to be found including vegetarian diet options. These stalls as well as craft booths are staffed by volunteers. A large portion of funds generated by the festival are given to various charities.

Many methods of transportation offer special rates and schedules such as trains leaving London’s Paddington Station and coach service operated by National Express. Glastonbury Festival ticket packages often include transportation and camp site fees in addition to event tickets.

The Glastonbury Festival has hosted such artists as David Bowie, Sir Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Jay-Z and Bruce Springsteen. Many backup artists and groups have been catapulted to fame as a result of their appearance. Some notable names gracing the program roster for 2011 were Beyonce, U2, Cold Play, Paul Simon and B.B. King.

In commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Glastonbury Festival (1970-2010) a special highlight was a duet performance of the traditional happy birthday song by festival founder, Michael Eavis and Stevie Wonder.

Although no Glastonbury Festival is planned for 2012 due to the practice of taking a rest or fallow year, and the 2012 Summer Olympics taking place in England, tickets and reservations are already being offered for the Glastonbury Festival 2013.

The popular festival was originally two days long, until 2007, making it a length of three days due to popularity. In fact, the event became so popular that in later years (2008 and up) introduced a weekend camping ticket to accommodate travelers on Thursday before any musicians perform. The T in the Park festival is promoted by Big Day Out.

At and around the festival, there are large camping areas to accommodate the needs of travelers and the majority of festival-goers who say for the entire length of the event. There are also several concession stalls and shops provided, as well as other attractions, such as a large fun fair, complete with the Big Wheel. This festival is extremely popular as it includes many types of music to suit every music lover’s needs. Recently, the festival offers a change as it teams up with Oxygen, a festival that takes place on the same weekend in County Kildare, Ireland.

Acts usually play T in the Park one day and Oxygen the nest, or vice versa. Festival-goers usually purchase tickets for both events. The two biggest and most popular tents with the most attraction at the festival are the NME and Main Stages Tent. Other popular tents at the festival include the Slam Tent and the King Tut’s Tent. The T in the Park festival has become more popular over time, and has attracted many more music fans- the 2004 edition attracted approximately 60,000 people on both the Saturday and Sunday of the event. Tickets for the 2006 festival went on sale at 9 AM on February 17, 2006 and sold out completely in under an hour- a record time for the festival.

Approximately 69,000 tickets were sold for each day. Also in the year 2006, the Pet Sounds Arena was introduced for the first time with a capacity of 8,000. Eventually, this replaced the future stage for the upcoming year, accommodating two thousand music lovers. The 2007 festival took place on the 6th, 7th, and 8th of July 2007- the first time the festival had been held over three days.

The first 35,000 tickets went on sale shortly after the 2006 festival as popularity and demands increased, and were rumored to sell in approximately seventy minutes. On the 9th of March (when the final batch of tickets was released), people were amazed to find that they sold out in twenty minutes. People from around the world travel to this festival, and is very popular as you can tell.

The Reading Festival is the 1st of a two leg festival that takes place in England annually with the second leg being the Leeds Festival. It is in fact the oldest, largest and longest running, musical festival in the world. This festival takes place during the August bank holiday weekend and runs from Friday thru Sunday at Little John’s Farm in central Reading. Originally the festival derived from the National Jazz Festival which was inspired by Henry Pendleton in 1961.

Pendleton took his inspiration from music festivals that were held in the US. Both the Reading and Leeds festival take place at the same time but at different locations. The Festival has been through some turbulent times, with several name changes and several location changes.

In fact it was banned in 1984 and 1985 for political reasons but in 1986 it regained its momentum and resumed with record breaking attendance. The Reading Festival is steeped in controversy and excitement including the time when Guns and Roses showed up late and was booed by the audience, to the clashes between the rockers and punks, and not to be forgotten the bottling tradition of throwing cans and plastic bottles to get the less popular bands off stage.

During the 80’s the festival fell into a slump and tried to take a different route with pop only to have unsuccessful and almost disastrous results, especially since its history had been up till then mostly rock. During the early turn of the century the popularity of the festival has grown and continues to grow with the evidence showing in increased ticket sales. As mentioned before the Reading and Leeds Festival took place simultaneously but around 2001 a new concept came as the acts that were the part of the line up at the Reading festival would appear as the opening act at Leeds the following night. One of the unique features of this Festival is the fact that not only can you by tickets for the day but you can purchase weekend tickets and set up campsites for the entire event. The event can accommodate approximately 80,000 people and sets up 3 stages for the bands to perform. This year’s festival will be taking place the weekend of August 26 thru August 28. Attracting fans from around the world and promising to deliver with such bands as My Chemical Romance and The Strokes ,the festival is already shaping up to be another memorable event.

Whether you are flying across the Atlantic or staying in the continental U.S., there is no shortage of festivals, special events, carnivals, and eclectic celebrations that are organized in the summertime. If you are a music fan and love the ambiance and community of indoor or outdoor festivals, the summer season is full of these types of events. The iTunes music festival in London, England, begins on July 1st and runs every night through July 31.

The iTunes music festival features over 60 different artists. It is held at the Roundhouse, in London, England, and lasts the entire month of July. A different artist or band is featured every night. The Roundhouse was built in 1966. It was initially used as a steam-engine repair shed before being transformed into one of London’s premier, live-music facilities; Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and The Doors have all walked the stage at the famed Roundhouse.

In 2011, the iTunes music festival features an eclectic collage of musical tastes and styles: pop, electronica, alternative, neo-soul, and hip-hop. Whatever your personal musical inclinations might be the iTunes festival is sure to present a musician or a band that you want to see. The iTunes festival is sponsored by Apple. The festival was first held in 2007, and since then has grown into one of the definitive music experiences of the summer. This year there are plenty of big-names and headliners: Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Duran Duran, Adele, and Paul Simon will all be featured. Bruno Mars, Arctic Monkeys, and Moby will also play over the course of the month of July.

iTunes customers can win free tickets to the shows through prize drawings and competitions. You can apply for these drawings and competitions at the iTunes festival website. If a quick trip to London is too expensive for you this recession plagued summer, do not worry, you can watch all of the concerts in HD, streaming live on your computer. You can also access the live shows by using the iTunes festival app on your iphone, ipad, and ipod. At a later date the concerts will also be made available through On Demand. If you can not see your favorite band in person then see them through the spirit of technology. There is no reason to miss a single concert of this month-long summer festival.

I was at my Glasgow dentist and selected to have sedation by inhalation for my filling and implants Glasgow treatment. Nowadays there is a range of local anaesthetic options which is quite a relief if you don’t like needles and feel anxiety about dental treatments. Inhalation sedation with nitrous oxide is also called “laughing gas” because people can get light headed and start to giggle.

This giggling episode did not happen to me, instead I drifted off into a dreamlike state. The word “Ad Nauseum” seemed to swim in my mind’s eye in colours of black, dark blue, green, light blue and white. As I watch this swimming term, it was as if hands extended from my forehead holding an age-old debate. And I could see this debate so clearly as repeated colour frequencies.

Yet as I looked about the proofs of this debate in hand, I did not feel sensations of nausea or any emotions of accusation. In contrast, I was intrigued by the pattern as almost a blue-print of survival. And I remembered this when my dentist and his hygienist came back into view. What troubled me though is that for the life of me, I could not remember what the debate or argument was!

Last night while I was sleeping, I dreamed that there was a prism swirling around in the middle of my ceiling that streamed different colours of the rainbow. And to each colour of this rainbow light was attached the same colour sting dangling down into my room below.

The reason that I remember this dream is because each of those strings attached to each of my upper and lower teeth causing them to move! It felt as if the prism was moving the strings just like a puppet on a string causing the most orchestral tooth dance ever experienced or seen yet. Michael Jackson in BAD does not come close!

The dream seemed to change mid-way and when I woke up, my tongue was sticking out, and I swore momentarily that it had just extended into little fingers playing piano chords on my teeth. That was quite a prism, and I wondered what my dentist in Nottingham would think about it. Since it was near my six-monthly check-up, and because I’m conscious about dental hygiene that can cause decay in my tooth cosmeticdentistryguide.co.uk/articles/root-canal.html, I headed to his practice in Balham that day without bothering to make an appointment.

Outside his practice, a board said: “Tooth fairy been and gone…Dental businesses For Sale”. I felt a bit miffed really at the thought of him selling and then began to laugh. That was one hell of a tooth fairy! So I went inside after discovering the practice was still open and told my dentist the dream.

When we get together, we girls find many subjects to talk about. Naturally, I always turn to the lack of success I’m having with my infertility treatment, which usually makes me sob and moves one of the other girls to find a much more light-hearted topic. Jane, bless her, came to the rescue this time by discussing a course of laser hair removal treatment she had undergone on a downy patch which kept sprouting between her shoulder blades causing endless waxing on holiday. She has kept this quiet, but the results are incredible. I had heard it can cause discolouration of the treated area, but we could barely tell which area had been worked on. Debs had the presence of mind to ask whether tattoo removal was as painless and could be undergone with so little marking, she has a tattoo on her lower back she has long regretted and would love to have removed. Laura had read that there was more of a chance of scarring with tattoo removal, although Debs’ tattoo is tiny and I’m sure she will elect to have it done. Nonetheless, Jane’s laser hair removal looks fantastic and the confidence it has given her is captured in her smile. Now if I can just fall pregnant…
